Apostolic Prefecture of Qiqihar
The Apostolic Prefecture of Qiqihar (or Tsitsikar) is a Latin Church missionary jurisdiction in PR China.
Its cathedral episcopal see is the Cathedral of St. Michael, at Qiqihar 齐齐哈尔, in Heilongjiang.
It is exempt, i.e. directly subject to the Holy See, not part of any ecclesiastical province.
History
- It was established on 9 July 1928 as Mission sui juris of Qiqihar 齊齊哈爾 (中文 alias Tsitsikar), on territories split off from the Apostolic Vicariate of Jilin 吉林 and the Apostolic Vicariate of Rehe 熱河)
- On 17 August 1931, it was promoted as Apostolic Prefecture of Qiqihar 齊齊哈爾 (中文) / Tsitsikar.
