Following the end of the 2013 AIHL season Humphries joined the Melbourne Glaciers of the Australian Junior Ice Hockey League for the 2013-14 season which ran during the AIHL's off-season.[3]

Humphries was first selected to represent Australia in 2011 where he joined the national under-20 team to compete in the 2012 IIHF World U20 Championship Division II Group B tournament being held in Tallinn, Estonia.[5] Australia finished in fifth place while Humphries recorded seven points in five games.[6] The following year he was again selected for the under-20 team to compete at the 2013 IIHF World U20 Championship Division II Group B tournament.[7] Humphries was named one of the teams alternate captains and won the award for Australia's best player of the tournament.[3][8] In 2014 Humphries was selected for the national senior team to compete in the 2014 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament.[9] Australia finished in fourth place while Humphries recorded two points in five games which included a single goal.[10]
