Mitchell Shubow Steir (born August 3, 1955)[4] is a commercial real estate broker.[5] He is chairman and chief executive officer of Savills Studley.[6]

Steir was raised in Brookline, Massachusetts.[7] His grandfather was rabbinical scholar in Boston.[4] He attended Milton Academy, in Milton, Massachusetts,[8] and then the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.[9]

Steir's first job was at a computer training startup. He took his first real estate job with Huberth & Peters in 1983.[8][9] In 1984 he received The Most Ingenious Deal of the Year award of the Real Estate Board of New York.[5] In 1988 Steir joined Julien J. Studley Inc. He negotiated the largest transaction of 1999 in Manhattan, a lease of 1,500,000 square feet (140,000 m2) for Time Inc., and the largest transaction of 2000 in midtown New York, 1,000,000 square feet (93,000 m2) for the headquarters of AOL Time Warner.[9] In 2003, Steir led a management buyout of the company from Julien J. Studley,[10] and became chief executive officer.[11][12] He has since negotiated leases for WilmerHale at 7 World Trade Center, in 2011,[5] and for Tiffany & Co. at 200 Fifth Avenue, in 2012.[13]

Steir is a member of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Real Estate Division Executive Council.[14] He is married to Nancy Ganz;[15] they have two children, Max and Rachel.[4]
