Muhammad Safdar Awan (Urdu: محمد صفدر اعوان ) (born 19 January 1964) is a Pakistani Politician and Member of National Assembly.[1] He is the husband of Maryam Nawaz and son in law of Current Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Safdar was born in Mansehra, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan to Muhammad Ishaq. He belongs to a terrain of District Mansehra. He did his matric from Mansehra, and then joined Post Graduate College Abbottabad for his intermediate. He did graduations in Statistics and Economics.[2]

Family and education

Captain Safdar is the son of Muhammad Ishaq.[3] He is a member of national assembly of Pakistan. He married Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz in 1992. They have 3 children, a son called Junaid Safdar and two daughters called Mehrunnisa Safdar and Mahnoor Safdar. Safdar did his matric from Mansehra, and then joined Post Graduate College Abbottabad for his intermediate. He studied Islam, economics and Physics. He did graduations in Statistics and Economics.[2]

Political career

He is affiliated with Pakistan Muslim League (N). Safdar is the President of Pakistan Muslim League(N) Youthwing and Member National Assembly of Pakistan. In the Elections 2013, he defeated Nawabzada Salah Uddin Saeed of PTI with a margin of 65000 votes from NA-21(Mansehra).[4] In May 2016, Safdar was reported to ECP by Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan for concealing wife's assets. He denied that however he has been summoned by ECP on June 1, 2016.[5][6][7]
