Murder at the Food Coop is a new musical play by Gersh Kuntzman and Marc Dinkin. It will make its world premiere at the 2016 New York International Fringe Festival in August, 2016 where it is being directed by Eric Oleson.
The plot synopsis [1] is as follows: "What happens when a left-leaning food cooperative in the most liberal corner of Brooklyn discovers its founder dead inside the hemp-powered Gore 3000 freezer unit? What follows is an investigation that makes the members question their guilt, their motives and, most important, their locavore bonafides."
The play's songs[2] include "Sometimes a Melon's just a Melon," 'Pot!" and "In the Freezer," which The Brooklyn Paper called "sure to be (a) hit."[3]
The show sold out four of its five performances. The website Theater is Easy wrote that "Murder at the Food Coop" "plays out like a cross between 'Portlandia' and 'The Naked Gun' ... through zany music and cheeky, pun-heavy jokes.".[4]
