NGC 140 is a spiral galaxy in the constellation of Andromeda. It was discovered by Truman Safford on November 23, 1785.[2]

Historical Information

On October 8, 1966, Truman Safford discovered NGC 140, and published the discovery in the appendix of an obscure paper. Sixteen years later, on the 5th of November, Edouard Stephan discovered the same object, but was unaware of Safford's earlier discovery. Eventually, Steinicke published a book of discoveries Safford deserves credit, and the two discoveries turned into one object.[2]
