National Cybersecurity FFRDC

Not to be confused with the National Institute of Standards and Technology's National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence or the Department of Homeland Security's National Cybersecurity Center.

The National Cybersecurity FFRDC is a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) operated by MITRE Corporation for the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)'s National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE). The National Cybersecurity FFRDC was created in October 2014 to help businesses secure their critical data and infrastructures by fostering public-private collaborations to identify and solve cybersecurity threats.[1] Among other efforts, it maintains the Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) system and the Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE).[2]
