National Science and Technology Medals Foundation

The National Science & Technology Medals Foundation, a District of Columbia nonprofit, supports the National Medal of Science and the National Medal of Technology and Innovation, awarded by the President of the United States. The Foundation seeks to achieve maximum recognition for these two national awards and the National Medal Laureates.[1] At the same time, it strives to increase public awareness that economic strength, competitiveness, and a high standard of living depend on our Nation’s ability to lead the world in scientific discovery and technological innovation. The Foundation endeavors to inspire the leaders of tomorrow to pursue excellence in science and engineering by promoting the National Medal Laureates as role models for future generations.[2][3] The NSTMF was founded in 1991 by George Rathmann.
