Neil Burke (born December 5, 1988), Better known by his alias Neilio, is an Irish hardstyle producer. He first gained popularity with another producer, Ephixa, who uploaded one of Neil's first songs, "Street Music", on YouTube[2] and with his various releases on the Canadian EDM record label Monstercat.[3]

History

Neil Burke was born in Ireland, but he moved to Almere, Netherlands at the age of 3. In 2012, he bought his own house in Almere. His first experience with hard dance was in 2006, one of his classmates had burned a hardcore live set on a CD and Neil became interested in the genre. Not very long after, he discovered hardstyle and he started to search for more songs and sets, which, to him, "started to become an addiction."[4]

Neil has looked up to Headhunterz and Wildstylez as inspiration for his particular hardstyle style. He started listening to his tracks because their style is constantly changing and can be captivating.

In 2009, he gained a small amount of popularity after a friend of Neil (who was also a hardstyle artist), Ephixa, uploaded Neil's song "Street Music" onto Ephixa's own YouTube channel. In 2011, Monstercat launched and Neilio became one of the first musicians to release on the label[5] since he was a friend of Ephixa at the time. Neil released three songs and one remix in his first and only year on Monstercat, those songs being (ordered from first to last) "Captivating",[6] "Obsession",[7] a remix of Matduke's song "The Technician"[8] and the last song he had on Monstercat's Youtube channel being "Outside This World".[9]

In 2013, Neil officially signed to Dirty Workz, the largest hardstyle label in Belgium and one of the largest hardstyle labels in the world. Neil has said in an interview that "Dirty Workz is like a family and I feel like I am at home with them. They have been a great influence for me. Artists like Coone, Hard Driver and Psyko Punkz are a big example for me.".[10]
