Nicole Cliffe

Nicole Cliffe is a Canadian-American writer and journalist. Cliffe is known for co-founding the website The Toast, of which she was co-editor with Mallory Ortberg.[1][2]

Cliffe grew up in Kingston, Ontario before concentrating in English at Harvard University.[3][4][5] At Harvard her friends included future journalists Amelia Lester, Matthew Yglesias and Josh Barro.[6] She worked at a New York hedge fund before becoming a writer and moving to Utah, where she lives with her family.[3][4] Cliffe also previously wrote for The Hairpin.[4][1][7] Although an atheist for much of her life, she converted to Christianity in 2015 and has written two essays on the topic, "How I Pray"[8] and "How God Messed Up My Happy Atheist Life."[9]
