North Bristol Post 16 Centre is a Sixth Form centre in Bristol, England. It is made up of two 'learning communities' at Cotham School and at Redland Green School. It opened in September 2007, one year after Redland Green School opened for Year 7 pupils. It is the sixth form for both schools, as well as its feeder schools: Fairfield School, Henbury School, Orchard School Bristol, and Oasis Academy Brightstowe. It also accepts a limited number of applicants from other schools.
Prior to the establishment of the centre, Cotham School had its own sixth form. By virtue of being part of Cotham School, the centre has a specialism in performing arts. It is also seeking specialist science status because of Redland Green's science laboratories and technical support staff.
Learning Communities
Pupils choose at the start of Year 12 to be based at either Charnwood House at Cotham, or at Redland Green. Each has its own 'student services team' which aims to look after the welfare of pupils. Pupils are both students of the centre and pupils of the school they choose as their learning community.
Director
The Director has overall responsibility for the centre, but each learning community has an Assistant Headteacher with responsibility for their respective learning community. The current Director is Marian Curran, who has a degree in Theology from the University of Oxford. She replaced Karen Cornick who left in December 2009.
