  1. The notation Old Style or (OS) is sometimes used to indicate a date in the Julian Calendar (which is used by churches on the "Old Calendar").
The notation New Style or (NS), indicates a date in the Revised Julian calendar (which is used by churches on the "New Calendar").
  2. Saint Demetrius was tortured for the sake of Christ by Pomplius the governor in the village of Daodus, and then he was beheaded.[4]
  3. He was one of the 318 Fathers of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea, in Bithynia. He became an ascetic and also a wonderworker. He reposed peacefully.

His relics still exist.

  13. Based on the proposal of the Metropolitan of Mytilene, the Ecumenical Patriarchate appointed the feast day for the 'Translation of the relics (1935-36) of Saint Gregory, Bishop of Assos (1150)' to be celebrated each year on the 1st Sunday after November 10 (i.e. on the Sunday between November 11-17 each year).
