The striolated puffbird (Nystalus striolatus) was formerly considered a species of puffbird in the Bucconidae family. In 2016 it was split into two species, eastern striolated puffbird (which retained the original scientific name Nystalus striolatus) and the western striolated puffbird (Nystalus obamai)[2][3]
The western species lives Bolivia, western Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. The eastern species is found only in Amazonian Brazil.[4]
Its natural habitat is subtropical and tropical moist lowland forests.
