Ojapali

Ojapali dance

Ojapali is a traditional folk dance from the Assam region of India. Ojapali is believed to have evolved from puppetry and is performed in a group; it is believed to be one of the oldest art forms of Assam. Ojapali is a collaboration between duo Bhargav Das - a folk Singer, and Dhon Rongpi - a guitarist.The duo started recreating Loka geet or Assamese folk songs during their time studying music production and has since then also started producing original pieces. ^[1][2]

Ojapali can be divided into three forms based on the occasion and style:

• Byah or bigoya ojapali
• Sukananni ojapali or maroi goa ojapali
• Ramayani ojapali^[3][4]
