"One Step" was the Austrian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 1997, performed in German almost exclusively (despite the English of the title) by Bettina Soriat.

The song was performed fourth on the night, following Norway's Tor Endresen with "San Francisco" and preceding Ireland's Marc Roberts with "Mysterious Woman". At the close of voting, it had received 12 points, placing 21st in a field of 25.

The song is an upbeat number, with Soriat criticising her lover for taking her for granted. The lyrics even contain a reference to Star Trek, with the line "sex with you passes by as fast as Starship Enterprise".

Due to poor performances, Austria was not permitted to take part in the 1998 Contest, but returned to the fold at the 1999 contest. Thus, the song was succeeded at that Contest by Bobbie Singer performing "Reflection".
