P.G. Vinda is an Indian cinematographer and director[2] who works in the Telugu film industry. He is known for his work on the 2004 black-and-white film, Grahanam, which was directed by Mohan Krishna Indraganti.[3] Other Vinda films include Anumanaspadam, Ashta Chemma, and Vinayakudu.He has made his debut as a cinematographer with National award (2005)winning film Grahanam (2004) directed by Indraganti Mohana Krishna, which received critical acclaim and it was a pioneering effort in the history of Telugu cinema from the camera work displayed exceptional quality of the visuals. It is the first Telugu feature film to be shot in digital technology. Shot on camera Panasonic mini dv, mostly in natural light and just on 5 Lakh budget. Vinda’s work for Grahanam 2004 participated many national&international film festivals, received attention and a National Award nomination for cinematography. The film gave a much needed breakthrough for both PG Vinda and Indraganti Mohana Krishna. He made his directorial debut with a children's movie he Lotus Pond (2011) on his child hood fascinations got good critic - public appreciations (17th ICFFI).
Early life and education
Vinda who was born into a farming family in Palem, village in Mehboobnagar, Andhra Pradesh, studied AP residential school from Beechupally on the banks of river krishna, APRDC silver-jubilee degree college Kurnool. PG Vinda childhood gave him good vision towards cultural and folk arts as his father Govindu Narayana farmer, street theater artist gone through many folklore and street plays. As a child he was always fascinated with the world around and started painting right from his very early years. At a point he had to choose between painting and photography his interest toward films took him in to cinematography. He graduated from the Jawaharlal Nehru Fine Arts University (JNTU) Hyderabad with a degree in fine arts specializing in photography and visual communication. Vinda started his career as an assistant to cinematographer Madhu Ambat for Rajkumar Santoshi's Lajja.
Vinda started his career as a cinematographer after graduating from School of Fine Arts. When everyone hesitated to work with Digital format in its earlier days, Vinda earned a distinction of master of digital format in Telugu cinema. Vinda has good association with sensible Director Indraganti Mohana Krishna and they worked together in films like Grahanam (2004) Thanikella Bharani in lead, Ashta Chemma (2008) Nani, Swathi and Sreenivas Avasarala debut film, Antaku Mundhu Aa Tarvata (2014) and now they are working on Bandipotu (2015) starring Allari Naresh.
He worked for with national award winning director like Neelakanta Nandanavanam120 km (2005) Anumanaspadam 2006 directed by veteran director vamshi Anweshana fame, his recent works Ninndale 2013 director Jayanth paranjeee well known ad film maker & popular director, with sandalwood power star puneeth raj kumar in lead, Romeo- Puri Rasina Prema Katha (2014) etc.. With which he won a good name and fame for his work and techniques and made him one of the most wanted Cinematographers. He collaborated with many commercial Ad- films, short films like Missing (2001) and Erase and for many documentaries like- The Realm of Nepal Architecture, Children of Lesser God. He has excellence in intervening the story with his visuals and masterly lighting techniques. His techniques are said to be very simple yet spectacular. His association with famous artist Aelay Laxman gave him lead in to feature films, he got exposure towards world cinema through Hyderabad Film Club (HFC)
As a man who was always very much fascinated of travelling, adventures he worked for a travelogue, Vihari (Traveller),in which he tried to explore and Capture the Beauty of various Places in his camera which included the Great Himalayan Beauties Which mesmerized many Viewers and got great name and fame to him and his techniques. He was much appreciated for his directorial venture The Lotus Pond (2011). Lotus Pond was screened at the Banff Mountain Film Festival and the 17th Children’s International Film Festival in India. Vinda, Presently is working on tollywood’s blockbuster hit director Puri Jagannadh’s upcoming flick, Jyothi Lakshmi (2015), starring Charmme Kaur in lead role.
Hanging Mountain Productions Pg vinda set up his production house Hanging Mountain productions in 2012, started ad-films, documentaries and feature films.
