PakWheels.com (sometimes simply referred to as PW) is the largest automotive classified site in Pakistan. It serves as a online marketplace for car shoppers and sellers. It also serves as an online community of automobile enthusiasts of Pakistan. As of February 2015, it has 100,000 daily unique visitors. It receives about 45,000 listings a month and 600,000 people take the numbers of car sellers from the website every month.[1]

Started in 2003 as a basement project by a group of petrol-heads to gather all the automotive enthusiasts in Pakistan and discuss the happenings in the automotive industry of Pakistan. PakWheels is the largest community-based automobile website in Pakistan with over 250,000 registered members.[2][3]

History

PakWheels.com (PakWheels) was founded by Hanif Bhatti on July 18, 2003[4] with a group of friends with a vision to provide a platform to the automotive enthusiasts of Pakistan. At that time, there were many enthusiasts in Pakistan, but there was not a single platform online for them to gather and discuss the automotive culture in Pakistan.

Description

The main purpose of PakWheels is to provide its users with a platform to buy and sell used vehicles online. Apart from serving this main purpose, the discussion forum on PakWheels allows users to discuss available brands of automobiles in Pakistan, the problems associated with their automobiles, their DIY projects related to cars, recommendations and suggestions. The website also runs a blog referred to as PakWheels Blog whose primary objective is to keep its readers in Pakistan up to date with the latest automobile news coming in from both local and international automakers. PakWheels Blog coverage extends to new local car launches with exclusive insights and analysis. In addition to news, it comes up with car comparisons,[5] buying guides, repairing guides, and car reviews tailored to the auto industry of Pakistan.

PakWheels also organizes annual PakWheels Auto Shows in Karachi,[6] Lahore[7] and Islamabad,[8] the three major cities of Pakistan. The shows focus on gathering automotive enthusiasts from all around the city to a single central point where they can showcase their cars and discuss them in real life.

Awards

Pakwheels managed to receive two major awards of Pakistan in 2014. One is Brand of the Year Award 2013,[9] which is a distinctive recognition for a brand as the leader in its industry, and the other is 12th Teradata National IT Excellence Award,[10] which is one of the highest IT Awards of Pakistan[11]
