Paul Munster (born 9 February 1982) is a retired professional footballer and the current Coach of BK Forward.
His soccer career, once thought over at age 19 due to a severely torn knee ligament, was revived playing in Canada and he went on to sign with Czech giants Slavia Prague.
A native of West Belfast, Munster signed with Slavia Prague on 19 November 2004 after a stellar 2004 (summer) season where he ran away with the Canadian Professional Soccer League's golden boot title, Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year.
After only 1 season with Slavia Prague where he appeared in 3 league matches and voted fans player of the month. He moved on to play for Orebro SK and Bunkeflo IF, both teams in Sweden.
Then back to the Czech Republic with SK Hradec Kralove. There he was reunited with his former Assistant Coach at Slavia Praha, Ludek Klusacek (now assistant Coach of the Czech Republic National Team). Munster ended Top Scorer with an impressive 10 Goals - 4 Assists, in 11 Starts.
Paul signed for Belfast club Linfield on 29 August 2008 at the age of 26. In his first season with Linfield the lethal striker scored an impressive 17 Goals – two Assists, in 20 Starts, including a vital 93rd-minute winner against rivals league champions Glentoran FC at Windsor Park, which was broadcast Live round the world by Sky Sports. Paul, Scored in each 3 Live Sky Sports games. Recently voted Fans Player of the Year.
It has now become the norm, that every time Munster scores at Windsor Park they play indie rock band The Automatic's chart hit "Monster".
In January 2011 Linfield rejected an offer from Hellas Verona. The offer was swiftly turned down by the Windsor Park club, even though they already knew that the player would leave in the summer for nothing.[1] Paul Munster terminated his contract May 2011.
Coaching career
A Coach since 2012 in Sweden. In the summer of 2012, Munster Appointed Head Coach, FC Assyriska, Division 4, resulting with an impressive win %. In Jan 2013, Munster Appointed Head Coach, FC Syrianska, Division 3, again with an impressive win % and work ethic. In Jan 2014, Munster Appointed Coach, BK Forward, Division 1.
Paul is driven to succeed as a Manager-Coach, making a big decision to start at a young age (30) believing this can make him a very big success for now and in the future. Paul has been rising up the Leagues in rapid speed, showing what he is capable of achieving in the game. Paul can be a future star Manager - Coach.
Paul Munster speaks fluently English,Czech,Swedish and some basic French.
