Pedro Cruz Sanchez (June 29, 1925 – August 16, 1987) also known as Doc Sanchez, is a Guamanian politician, educator and historian, was President of the Territorial College of Guam (now the University of Guam / Unibetsedåt Guåhan) from 1970 to 1974.
Biography
Sanchez was born and raised on Guam, to School superintendent Simon Angeles Sanchez and Antonia Cruz Sanchez. He has other siblings are: Julia S. Takano, Adriano Cristobal C. Sanchez, Frank C. Sanchez, Rosario S. Crisostomo, Gregorio C. Sanchez, and Vicenta S. Dannelly.
Sanchez is married to Florida Galeai'i, and together they have had children: Simon II, Anthony Peter, Antolina S. Leon Guerrero, Florida, Dolores Anne, Paul, and Amanda.
In 1978, former University of Guam president Dr. Pedro Cruz Sanchez ran for lieutenant governor on a Democratic ticket along with gubernatorial candidate, Ricardo Jerome "Ricky" Bordallo. (This time, the Bordallo-Sanchez ticket was defeated as the Republican Calvo-Ada team won the election.
He died in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 16, 1987, at the age of 80.
