Pendulum Drift is the debut Art House drama feature film directed by Edinburgh International Film Festival & Skillset 2009 Trailblazer award winner, Shehzad Afzal.[1][2][3][4]

Shehzad Afzal applied and experimented with a multitude of methods and techniques, developed over the course of his MA dissertation research at Screen Academy Scotland during 2009, to the candidate and host feature film project, Pendulum Drift.[5]

The Pendulum Drift film Soundtrack theme is composed by musician Shaahan Afzal. Envisaged to include both established and up-and-coming Scottish Bands and Artists.[6]

The film, Pendulum Drift, is currently in post-production and expected for film festival release in 2016/17.[7]

Plot

The film follows one night of security guard Alastair's shift at a run down hotel bar and adjacent car park facilities. The ensuing night brings forth an eclectic mix of characters from druggies, dealers and hookers to a bizarre hustler gang and an Internet webcam hostess. A crossroads where relationships begin to crack at the seams, truths are uncovered and loyalties are tested. With his past coming to the fore, Alastair has to keep his wits, patience and his nerve to survive the night.

Production

The film production was supported by Robin MacPherson, former Professor and Director of Screen Academy Scotland, part of Edinburgh Napier University and Edinburgh College of Art.

Locations were originally scouted and advised by Andy Harris, Art Director and Production Designer on films such as Hellbound: Hellraiser II, 'Sunset Song', and Comfort and Joy (1984 film) amongst others.

Pendulum Drift was filmed on location near Dunbarton, Glasgow, Scotland during April 2010 over a course of five consecutive nights.
