Philippine Internet Commerce Society
The Philippine Internet Commerce Society (PICS) is an advocacy group which promotes electronic commerce in the Philippines. It was founded in September 1997 by Janette Toral. The organization was registered as a non-stock non-profit corporation in May 1998.
It successfully lobbied for the passage of the Y2K Law in 1999 and eCommerce Act in 2000. It sponsors the annual National eCommerce Congress and Exhibit, which began in 2002, and organizes the Annual PICS-IT SME awards recognizing small and medium enterprises across the Philippines who have chosen to embrace electronic commerce. The current president of PICS is Mon Lizardo. Past presidents are Mary Anne Tolentino and Janette Toral.
