The Pilipinas Sambo Federation Inc. (PSFI) is the national governing body of the Russian martial arts of sambo in the Philippines and is a member of Asian SAMBO Federation since October 5, 2008.[1]

History

Initially organized as SAMBO Pilipinas, the Pilipinas Sambo Federation gained recognition from the Fédération Internationale de Sambo (FIAS) as the national governing body of sambo in the Philippines in 2015.[2]

The Philippines through the federation sent a delegate composing of one competitor at the World Sambo Championships in Casablanca, Morocco in November 2015, the first time the country competed in the tournament. The sole Filipino entry finished 7th at the Combat sambo category. The sporting body also organized the first National Championship in March 31, 2016 at the Abreeza Mall in Davao City.[2][3]

The organization is securing accreditation from the Philippine Sports Commission and the Philippine Olympic Committee.[3]
