Pinky Shipyard Private Limited is a based shipbuilding company based in Goa, India. It owns a small shipyard spread over 5 acres of leased land from Mormugao Port Trust.

History

Pinky Shipyard Pvt. Ltd. was incorporated in the year 1991. Its original promoters was Gopalkrishna Pillai. The shipyard has been building and repairing ships, sea going vessels and vessels for inland waterways. However, due to recession, it incurred losses during 1999-2000, and the business activities were not carried out thereafter. During 2005, Bharati Shipyard Limited (BSL) bought 51% of its share capital and it become a subsidiary of BSL with effect from 27 October 2005.[1]

Current activities

The shipyard is self-sufficient having facilities for building vessels up to 5,000 DWT and up to 140 m in length. It is equipped with side launching facility, CNC plasma steel cutting and preparation machines, automatic blasting and painting machines, panel line fabrication, profile bending machine, rollers for plate straightening, etc.[2] It is now an exclusive shipbuilding establishment. The semi-finished ships are transported from Bharati Shipyard units at Ratnagiri and Ghodbunder to Goa, where the remaining construction activities are carried out and the ships are delivered to customers thereafter.[1] Another adjacent yard, Anderson Marine Pvt LTD, has also been acquired on lease by Bharati Shipyard.[2]
