The lettered aracari (US /ˌɑːrəˈsɑːri/ AHR-ə-SAHR-ee,[2] UK /ˌɑːrəˈsɑːri/ ARR-ə-SAHR-ee or /ˌɑːrəˈkɑːri/ ARR-ə-KAHR-ee),[3] or lettered araçari (Pteroglossus inscriptus), is a species of bird in the toucan family.

Description

It is one of the smaller toucans, weighing 130 g (4.6 oz) and being 29 cm (11.5 inches) in length.

Distribution and habitat

It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests, subtropical or tropical swamps, and heavily degraded former forest.
