Pyrausta comastis is a moth in the Crambidae family. It was described by Meyrick in 1884.[1] It is found in New Zealand. The habitat consists of dry grassy hills.
The wingspan is 11–13 mm. The forewings are ochreous-whitish, suffused with reddish ochreous. There is usually a dense blackish irroration forming a basal patch and broad fasciae following the first and second lines. The hindwings are ochreous-orange, with some scattered black scales anteriorly. There is a blackish line beyond the middle and a blackish hind marginal band.[2] Adults have been recorded on wing in January.[3]
