Rémy Martin (French pronunciation: [ʁemi maʁtɛ̃]) is a French firm that primarily produces and sells cognac (a brandy from the Cognac region of France). The brand specialises in Cognac Fine Champagne, which was originally produced by French winemaker Rémy Martin.
History
Martin founded the business in 1724. As of 2011, it was owned by Rémy Cointreau, a company established in 1991.
As of May 2012, the company promotes its cognac product for its aging process of between 10 and 37 years (the standard for other brands is 6 years).[1]

Rémy Martin is a specialist in Fine Champagne Cognac. The eaux-de-vie selected for use in Rémy Martin products come from the two best growth areas of the Cognac region, the Grande Champagne and the Petite Champagne (the word "Champagne" defines a type of soil that is extremely chalky). The eaux-de-vie from these crus, in the heart of the Cognac region, have the greatest ageing potential.
Fine Champagne Cognac is the only blend of two crus protected by the Appellation d'Origine made by winegrowers and distillers from Grande Champagne & Petite Champagne were signed with Rémy Martin, forming the "Alliance Fine Champagne".
Only 17% of the cognac shipped from the region is legally recognized as Fine Champagne Cognac (Source: BNIC shipments 2004) and 80% of all Fine Champagne Cognac shipped from the region is produced by Rémy Martin.
The Rémy Martin brand is known for the distinctive centaur logo displayed on its wines. In China, Rémy Martin is called réntóumă (人头马), literally "man-headed horse".

Commemoratives
In the 1960s Rémy Martin produced two commemorative products: the "games barrel" and the "writing slope". Limited volumes were produced. They have since become collector's items.
The games barrel was a compendium of six of the games the cellar workers ostensibly played while they waited for fermentation and aging to take place, a process that took several years. The games were each arranged as separate, circular layers and the whole assembled in a barrel shape, copying the traditional brandy cask form. The games barrel was made in Limousin oak, the same wood used in the full-size cognac barrels. A brass plate with the Rémy Martin name was attached to the center band.
The writing slope was much like the traditional writing slopes of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries except that it was an exact copy of what the Rémy Cellar Master used for his cellar notes and records. Like many historic examples of writing slopes, Rémy Martin included a secret compartment beneath the pen tray, large enough to take a small bottle of brandy. This piece was also made of Limousin oak and had the Rémy Martin name on a brass plate on the side.
Music
Remy Martin collaborated on Indian musical project Hiphop Tamizha's debut album Hip Hop Tamizhan (2012), which was recognised as the world's first Tamil hip hop album. They will also be involved in the project's next album International Tamizhan.[2]
The rapper Fetty Wap frequently mentions the 1738 variety in his work.[3]
John Entwistle, of the musical rock band, The Who, was known to drink Remy Martin products on stage during performances.
Rémy Martin V
In 2010, Rémy Martin introduced its first clear spirit, Rémy Martin V, in select markets. Rather than using the oak barrel aging process, the liquid undergoes a proprietary 14 °F (−10 °C) filtration process, giving it a transparent color and subtle taste with hints of pear and a fresh minty aftertaste.

The Dynasty and the Chinese market
In 1980, at the beginning of the Chinese economic reform, Rémy Martin ventured into China with The Dynasty brand (Dynasty Wine Ltd), the first foreign wine maker and the second joint-venture in all China. In fact, thereafter The Dynasty will develop over 90 brands of alcoholic beverages.[4]
