Rasmus Ankersen

Rasmus Ankersen (born September 22, 1983 in Herning, Denmark) is an author and chairman at FC Midtjylland. Before taking up an operational position with the Danish club, he was initially a youth team player before progressing into a coaching role. He is also one of the Directors of Football at Brentford FC, a role he considers to be more full-time than his role in Denmark.[1]

Published work

Ankersen has published several books, including; A Winner's DNA, Mid-level DNA, Education of a Winner, The Gold Mine Effect and Hunger in Paradise with Danish publisher Turbulenz.

In his books he draws on experiences traveling around the world to live with, work with and inspect some of the world's best talent environments in sports. Due to the popularity of his books, he has been dubbed a 'high performance expert'.[2]

The attention gained from his written work has led to many high profile public speeches, appearing in popular media outlets CNN[2] & Sky.[3]

Football

Ankersen works as an advisory for various athletes and managers globally. He is also a UEFA A-license coach. He also has more concrete roles at both FC Midtjylland and at Brentford FC.

FC Midtjylland

Ankersen was captain of FCM's youth team before picking up a knee injury at 19. Eventually he did his coaching badges and ended up as a UFEA A licensee, retaining a role in the club's youth academy. He departed to travel the world as part of the research for his published works.

He returned to take up the role of chairman, now on a part-time basis, working with Brentford FC to share ideas between the two clubs.

Brentford FC

Ankersen was appointed as co-director of football at Brentford FC in the summer of 2015. The responsibility of Ankersen and the other co-director, Phil Giles, is to oversee football side of the Club and to be responsible for managing the recruitment of new players and staff.

Of the appointment, Ankersen stated: "I am convinced that this is the start of a journey to something special at Brentford Football Club."

Both FC Midtjylland and Brentford are owned by Matthew Benham, a Brentford fan.
