Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, also known as Rao, is an Indian Politician and Industrialist a member of the 11th, 12th, 14th, 15th and 16th Lok Sabha of India. He was one of the youngest member elected to Rajya Sabha of India at the age of 39. He represents the Narasaraopet parliamentary constituency of Andhra Pradesh and is a member of the Telugu Desam Party.
Background
Rayapati Sambasiva Rao was born in Ungutur Village Amaravathi Mandal Guntur District Andhra Pradesh.His father Sri Late Venkata Ranga Rao was a farmer and devotee of Lord Shiva. His mother name is Smt.Sitaramamma sister of Gogineni Nageswararao. Sambasivarao was eldest of the seven children.
Birthplace
Ungutur is predominantly agriculture based village situated near famous Amaravathi Town known for its Historical and Archeological importance. It was once seat of education having a University in pre historical days and a sacred place for Buddhists.The last remnants of Lord Buddha were present in the 'Stupa' and attracts number of pilgrims from within the country and Abroad.The Buddhist Scholar Nagarjuna is said to have lived in Amaravathi. Amaravathi was a Buddhist pilgrim Centre.
Education
Rao has completed his Secondary Education from Tadikonda and graduated from New Science College, Hyderabad.
Legacy
Rao was attracted to politics from his college days. Rao was fond of Democracy, Secularism and inclined towards to Social Service. Indian National Congress led by then Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi has attracted him.His maternal Uncle Sri Gogineni Kanakaiah was in politics earlier. Rao has served as Sarpanch and President Panchayat Samithi, Tadikonda.
Family
Sambasiva Rao is married to Smt Leela Kumari and they have one son and two daughters. His son's name is Mr Rayapati Ranga Rao active in politics, and he is Chief Executive of Jaya Lakshmi Spinning Mills Chebrolu. His eldest daughter's name is Smt Devika Rani, Director of M/s Jaya Lakshmi Automotives, Guntur.His youngest daughter name is Smt Lakshmi. Lakshmi is a house wife.
Business Activities
Rayapati Sambasiva Rao took up the business of tobacco in the name and style of Jaya Lakshmi Tobacco Company at Guntur and expanded the company into many branches under the Group known as Jaya Lakshmi Group of Companies dealing in tobacco,spinning of yarn,export of spices, production of electricity and construction of roads.
Achievements
Founder R.V.R. College of Engineering and College of Law Guntur. Installed several Protected Water Supply Schemes (P.W.S.) in several villages and helped farmers with Lift Irrigation Schemes. Developmental Activities include railway station upgrades in Guntur and helped upgrade of GGH (Guntur General Hospital) and assisted several villages with MPLAD funds.
Kidney offer to Minster of Foreign Affairs
Mr Rayapati known for his kind heart by donating his personnel wealth to victims of families, offered to donate his kidney to foreign ministry who tweeted of renal failure. [1]
