The Rebellion Festival is an independent Punk rock music festival that has been in existence since 1996 when it was originally called "Holidays in the Sun" and later the "Wasted" festival.
The first festival in 1996 was held at the Winter Gardens, Blackpool England it is still held there now although some of the festivals were held in Morecambe. There has also been some festivals in Australia, USA, Japan, Germany, Holland, Italy, Belgium, Basque, Ireland and Austria
It is still a family run and family friendly event which celebrates Punk in all its forms but also puts on bands from other alternative genres plus some Glam Rock artists and seminal bands from the 60's and 70's . With up to 7 music stages there is also an acoustic stage, a literary stage and a Punk Art gallery along with many workshops, clothes and music stalls and various other theme stalls.
There are over 300 acts every year over 4 days and is usually spread over the first weekend in August ;Thursday - Sunday .The festival has a great relationship with the Blackpool council and the people of Blackpool in general and has been commended for its involvement with local charities.[1]
In 2015 when The Boomtown Rats played the festival it made national headlines when Bob Geldof insulted all the other bands and the people coming to the festival by making comments on their dress sense .[2]
