Varghese Valiaveettil

Very. Rev. Fr. Varghese Valiaveettil (Fr. George Valiaveettil) (born on 17 July 1851) was an eminent priest of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. He is best known as the founder of Ernakulam Vicariate. The third vicariate in Kerala, India was first envisaged by Fr. Varghese Valiaveettil of Vazhakkulam and Luois Pazheparampil was appointed the first vicar apostolic of Ernakulam.

The initial investment for the famous St. George Hospital of Vazhakkulam in Ernakulam district, Kerala was contributed by Rev. Fr. Jose Valiaveettil as a memorial towards Rev. Fr. George Valiaveettil.
