Richard Rudolf (16 April 1923 – 13 December 2004) was an Oberscharführer in the Waffen SS during World War II. He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World War II.
Richard Rudolf was born on 16 April 1923 in Hermsdorf in Saxony. During World War II he was a platoon commander in the 12th SS Panzer Regiment 12th SS panzer Division Hitlerjugend. He was awarded the Knight's Cross for his bravery in the Battle of Normandy fighting at the Carpiquet airfield just outside Caen. Richard Rudolf survived the war and died on the 13 December 2004, in Schönau. [1][2][3]
