Rick Bergman, president and CEO of Synaptics

Rick Bergman (born 1963) is the president and CEO of Synaptics. He joined Synaptics in September 2011 from Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD), where he served as senior vice president and general manager of AMD's Product Group.[1] He had been a longtime executive in the graphics chip business, serving in many positions at ATI Technologies before it was acquired in 2006 by AMD.[2]

In May 2015, he was appointed to Maxwell Technologies board of directors.[3]

Education

Bergman holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Colorado.[4]

Early career

Bergman served as chief operating officer at S3 Graphics, a division of SonicBLUE.[4] He has held senior level management positions in the technology field since his early roles at Texas Instruments, Inc. and IBM.[4]

At AMD

Bergman's career at AMD began in October 2006 as part of AMD's acquisition of ATI; there he served as senior vice president and general manager of the Products Group.[5] At AMD, Bergman was responsible for delivering microprocessors and graphics chips to AMD's customers and for Fusion, which are the combination chips that put a graphics chip and processor on a single piece of silicon.[6]

Awards

In 2014, Bergman placed Bronze in Best in Biz's "Executive of the Year" awards.[7]
