Rob Speyer is an American real estate developer. He is the president and chief executive officer of New York City real estate company Tishman Speyer.[1][2]
Early life and education
Speyer graduated magna cum laude from Columbia College in 1992.[3] He worked as a reporter for the New York Daily News before joining Tishman Speyer,[4] [5]the development firm founded by his father, Jerry Speyer, and his maternal grandfather, Robert Tishman. [6]
Career
Speyer joined Tishman Speyer in 1995 and held leadership roles in the company’s acquisitions, development, capital markets, and leasing departments. [7][8] In 2015, he was named the firm’s sole chief executive officer.[9]
Speyer has served as a member of the Real Estate Board of New York’s (REBNY) executive committee since 2004, and became the chairman of the committee in 2013.[10] [11]He was also named chairman of the advisory board of the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City in 2006, and was reappointed in 2014 by Mayor Bill de Blasio. [10]
Speyer also sits on the Board of Trustees of New York-Presbyterian Hospital; the Board of Visitors of Columbia College (emeritus); [12]the Board of Directors of the Real Estate Roundtable; [13] the Board of Trustees of the Citizens Budget Commission;[1] and on the Board of Directors of Exor. [14]
Personal life
In 2008, Speyer married Anne-Cecilie Engell. Engell graduated from Cornell University and received her MBA from New York University.[15]
