Rory Paul McKeown (born 8 April 1993) is a Northern Irish footballer who plays for Accrington Stanley. McKeown has previously played for Kilmarnock, Cowdenbeath and Raith Rovers and is a former Northern Ireland under-21 international.
Career
McKeown started his career as a youth team player for Ipswich Town. He signed at the same time as fellow countryman Josh Carson. McKeown went on to develop in the Ipswich under-18s and reserve teams before he was released in June 2011.
Following his release by Ipswich, McKeown signed for Kilmarnock after a short trial. Killie manager Kenny Shiels commented that "Rory is a great young player, he fits in with the way we play". McKeown made an immediate impact at Killie, scoring on his competitive debut, against Dundee United at Tannadice Park.[1][2]
On 20 February 2014, McKeown joined Scottish Championship side Cowdenbeath on a one-month emergency loan.[3] On 22 February 2014, he made his debut for the club and scored after 33 minutes in a 2–0 win against Dundee.[4] Having made six appearance and scoring once, McKeown loan spell with Cowdenbeath was extended until the end of the 2013–14 season.[5]
On 23 June 2014, McKeown joined another Scottish Championship side, Raith Rovers.[6]
McKeown signed for Accrington Stanley in August 2016.[7]
