Rudolf Conse "Rudy" Hatfield II (born September 17, 1977) is an American-Filipino retired professional basketball player who played for Laguna Lakers in the Metropolitan Basketball Association, later he played for Tanduay Rhum Masters, Pop Cola Panthers, Coca-Cola Tigers and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the Philippine Basketball Association.[1]
MBA years
During the 1999 season, he was signed by the Laguna Lakers in the Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA) where he played alongside Biboy Simon, Wynne Arboleda, Alvin Teng, Mike Garcia and Randy Alcantara. But he played only a few games of the season before he enter to the PBA for that year.
Tanduay years
In the 1999 Draft, he was directly hired by the Tanduay Rhum Masters where he played alongside future MVP Eric Menk, former UAAP MVP Chris Cantonjos and Mark Telan. At the All-Filipino Cup, they made an immediate impact on their return to the PBA by compiling a 9-7 record, good for second place despite being tied with Alaska and Formula Shell. In the playoffs, they easily defeated Pop Cola and Alaska before losing to Shell in the finals 4-2. However, Hatfield and the others were not able to have this success the following years.
Success with Coca-Cola
After playing for the Pop Cola Panthers, he was acquired by the Coca-Cola Tigers in 2002 and played with all-stars Jeffrey Cariaso and Johnny Abarrientos. He became a power player here and helped the team win the 2002 All-Filipino Cup and the 2003 Reinforced Conference. He had a number of awards that include the Mythical and All-Defensive teams. He was also an all-star in 2003.
Present life
Rudy is living in Detroit, Michigan with his wife and three kids.
