Run DMT is the performing name of electronic dance music artist John Robbins. Formed in Austin, TX in the summer of 2010, Run DMT is best known for his remix of Major Lazer's "Jah No Partial" feat. Flux Pavilion,[1] inclusion on the Mortal Kombat: Songs Inspired by the Warriors album ("Baraka's Theme"),[2] and top-charting first release "Drop Top."[3]
Influences
Various musical styles influence his music, including Drum and bass, Dubstep, Drumstep, Trap, Moombahton, atmospheric Downtempo and more. He has played at numerous music festivals and events: 2013 Warped Tour, Electric Daisy Carnival, Coachella, Camp Bisco, Nocturnal Festival, Wakarusa, Snowball Music Festival, and Counterpoint Fest.[3]
History
Run DMT was previously a duo, consisting of Robbins and Chris Parson,[4] until Parson left the group in July 2012.
This is all the commentary received about the separation to this day. The real answer to what exactly happened to cause the split of the duo may never be known. Both Chris Parson and John Robbins continue to make music to this day.
The name Run DMT was used by Michael Collins, who debuted with his album Bong Voyage in 2009, a year before the EDM duo formed. He has since changed his artist name to Salvia Plath, due to copyright issues.[5]
2013
Run DMT's most recent hits include "Shaman Juice"[6] and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike feat. Lil Jon – "Madness" (Run DMT remix).[7]
In September 2013, Run DMT released a remix of The Who's "Who Are You."[8]
2014
January 2014 saw the release of a remix package of Diplo's "Revolution (feat. Faustix & Imanos and Kai)" which included a remix by Run DMT.[9] This track has been featured as background music in the Titanfall video game commercial.[10]
In September 2014, RUN DMT's remix of Twenty One Pilots single "Car Radio" was released through Fueled by Ramen[11]
RUN DMT's remix of "Now" by Bassnectar feat. Rye Rye was released in October on Amorphous Music.[12]
