Ryan Griffin (born January 11, 1990) is an American football tight end for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Connecticut.

College career

As a junior, Griffin was one of 25 tight ends to be named to the John Mackey Award Midseason Watch List. He finished his college career with 10 touchdowns and 116 receptions, second all-time by a tight end. His six touchdowns in 2012 tied for second-most by a Husky in a single season. In 2012 he was named UConn's Offensive Player of the Year.[1]

Professional career

Ryan Griffin was drafted in the 6th round (201st overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans.[2]

2013

Griffin started 15 of 16 games for the Texans during the 2013 season. Griffin got his first NFL touchdown week 10 against the Arizona Cardinals on a 2 yard pass from Case Keenum. This would be Griffin's only touchdown of the season. Ryan Griffin finished his rookie season with 19 receptions and 28 targets for a total of 244 yards.

2014

Ryan Griffin started all 16 games during the 2014 season. Despite starting every game, Griffin was relatively quiet with only 10 receptions and 16 targets for a total of 91 yards. Griffin finished the season with one touchdown reception.

2015

Ryan Griffin only started 9 games during the 2015 season as he dealt with numerous injuries throughout the season. Despite only 9 starts, Griffin had his best season to date, with 34 targets for 20 receptions and 251 yards and 2 touchdowns. Griffin's first touchdown of the season came week 12 against the New Orleans Saints on a 10 yard pass from Brian Hoyer, Griffin's longest touchdown reception. Griffin's second touchdown of the season came next week against the Buffalo Bills, on a 8 yard pass from Hoyer.
