SPiN is a four-piece American Alternative Rock / Power pop band from the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area whose first EP "Home" was internationally released in 2010.
"Stellar musicianship, vocals and writing make this one not to be missed" wrote music and radio industry publication the FMQB. [1] The Philadelphia-area based band's first single, "Home," entered the charts as the second-most added song in the country for two weeks straight. It went on to peak at number 7 on FMQB's Hot AC charts.[2] SPiN has had its songs appear in dozens of television shows in the US and has toured extensively supporting acts such as Puddle of Mudd, Hinder, Trapt, Halestorm, Fuel (band), Charm City Devils, SafetySuit, Ra (American band), Rev Theory, Red during stops in 32 US states at over 600 shows. In 2015, "Happy Together", the first single from their "Stalked" EP hit #1 on the iTunes Indie Rock charts and remained in the top 5 for over two months.
History
SPiN's origins can be traced back to a Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania high school, where Vocalist Eric Rothenheber and Keyboardist Jim Vacca first began performing together. Guitarist Henry Cieplinski and Drummer Lou Chudnofsky were quickly added to the mix, and with the help of a local booking agent the tight-knit band of friends began playing regional shows 3-5 times a week. This heavy performance schedule, along with a demo cut in a friend's basement studio, helped secure national sponsorship by Herbal Liqueur brand Jägermeister,[3] who has invited the band to be part of the highly successful Jäger Music Tour series. The building buzz caught the attention of Grammy-Winning producer David Ivory, who ended up producing SPiN's debut EP, Home.

- "Silent Night" was featured in the commercial spots for the movie Scott Pilgrim vs. the World airing on IFC (U.S. TV network) TV Network during all of November and December 2014
- "Hurt By You" was featured in the Free Beats Segment on Attack of the Show in 2010
- "Not in Love" was used in the MTV Network top rated series Teen Mom on the 2010 Finale Episode of Season 1. It is also featured in the popular online video game Audition Online
- "hurt by you" was used in the MTV Network series I Used To Be Fat on Episode 5 of Season 1 in 2011.
- "doN't look dowN" was featured on the internationally syndicated radio show ExploreMusic with Alan Cross on Feb 2, 2011 who said about the band, "True DIY power pop that should turn some heads. If not, you're not listening properly."
- "home" is featured across the network of Emmelunga market stores and Aiazzone Furniture Stores, and at WaterPark Ondablu all in Italy.
Sound
SPiN's sound has been described as alternative pop/rock or powerpop infused with electronic elements and powerful vocal harmonies - reminiscent of bands like Muse, Queen, Fall Out Boy, and The Cars It was described by producer Luke Tozour (P!nk, Katy Perry) as "“Classic epic songwriting with a modern pop twist!” and in Wildy's World, "SPiN takes the melodic rock tendencies of 1970's heavyweights Styx or Queen while maintaining a modern edge that makes them highly appealing across several age demographics."[4]

- SPiN's music video for the song "Playing Dead" had national rotation on Fuse TV on-demand[5] and on the Canadian channel Aux TV.
- In 2012, the music video was released for the single "Hearts in Flames"
- In 2015, the music video was released for the single "Happy Together" which coincided with the featured placement on the CBS Hit Show Stalker (TV series)
- The music video for the title track to the "Jar of Lies" EP was released in summer of 2015
- On Oct 26th 2015, the horror themed music video for the single "Zombie Girl" had its exclusive premier on BloodyDisgusting.com and went to wide release the next day.

SPiN's releases have been met with favorable press in newspapers, magazines and websites around the country, including the Philadelphia Daily News and Inquirer.[6] Feature articles were written on the band in The Virginia Tribune, Baltimore Times, Florida Style magazine, Washington Informer, "Musicians Friend" [7] and more.
Cease and Desist
Spin magazine has warned the band regarding the similarity of their name to the long-running music publication. On January 3, 2008 the band received a letter from the attorney for the publication's parent company Spin Media, LLC, claiming that the name "SPiN" constitutes trademark infringement "of the famous and valuable" Spin brand.[8] The band has stated it will not give up the name due to this claim.
