Sammy Seamster (born February 5, 1991) is an American football cornerback for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He was originally signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He has also played for the Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints and Buffalo Bills.
College career
Seamster played college football for Middle Tennessee State University and appeared in 44 career games (10 starts) during his career, recording 69 tackles (50 solo), 3 TFL (-13 yards), 1 INT (14 return yards), 4 FFs, 2 FRs and 1 PD. As a senior, he played in 13 games, including six starts in 2013 and posted a career-high 33 tackles (22 solo) and his first-career INT. He also added 2 FFs, 2 FRs and 1 PD during the season.
Seamster was named the team’s 2013 Lifter of the Year and was invited to participate in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.
Professional career
Baltimore Ravens
On May 12, Seamster was signed by the Baltimore Ravens.[1]
Miami Dolphins
On August 31, 2014, Seamster was claimed off waivers by the Miami Dolphins.[2] He played in the Dolphins' first two games of the 2014 season, suffered a fractured collarbone in the second game, and ended up on the injured reserve list.[3] The Dolphins waived him on August 30, 2015.[4]
New Orleans Saints
On September 1, 2015, the New Orleans Saints claimed Seamster off waivers.[5] The team waived him on September 5, but was signed to the team's practice squad the next day.[6]
Buffalo Bills
After being on Buffalo Bills' practice squad since mid-November 2015, Sammy was promoted to the active roster on December 30, 2015.[7] On September 2, 2016, he was released by the Bills as part of final roster cuts.[8]
Dallas Cowboys
On September 13, 2016, Seamster was signed to the Cowboys' practice squad.[9]
