Hendra Samuel Simorangkir (stage name Sammy Simorangkir; born September 8, 1982) is an Indonesian singer. Sammy is the former vocalist of pop-group band Kerispatih and the youngest brother of top Christian songwriter and singer Sari Simorangkir. Sammy was a finalist of season 1 of Indonesian Idol.

Career

Since with Kerispatih, Sammy released four studio album Kejujuran Hati (2005), Kenyataan Perasaan (2007), Tak Lekang Oleh Waktu (2008) and Semua Tentang Cinta (2009), and one compilation album Gulaikustik (2004). After leaving the band due to a drug case, Sammy decided to be a solo artist and signed a recording contract with Pro-M. On April 2012, he launched his debut studio album Aku Kembali[1] and produced the singles "Sedang Apa Dan Dimana" and "Kesedihanku". A year later, Sammy released his album of the repackaged version.

Case

In late 2009, Sammy underwent an intense public discussion since he was accused of the theft of a Honda Civic which was owned by a woman named Giska. A few day later, Sammy picked up police officers to undergo police checks in Mampang.

Soon after that, Sammy returned deal to the police due to finding shabu-shabu packets and the suction tool in a his boarding room at the Pedurenan Sawit Setiabudi in Central Jakarta. Sammy tested positive for the drug and was charged under the Narcotics Act with a maximum penalty of 12 years.[2]
