Initially, the Returning Officer had declared Abdullah Hassan as the elected representative for Sanglang at the night of 8 March 2008. However, Hashim Jasin filed his petition to nullify the election due to inconsistent figure in the vote counting documents. The Federal Court had made such a controversial decision to declare Hashim Jasin as the rightful winner on 16 September 2008. No by-election was held by the Election Commission of Malaysia.[2] |
