Saoirse (Irish pronunciation: [ˈsˠiːɾʲʃə], [ˈsˠeːɾʲʃə] or [ˈsˠɯːɾʲʃə]; roughly SEER-shə) is an Irish and Scottish female given name meaning "freedom", which became popular in Ireland in the 1920s.[1]
