Schleswig station is the station of the city of Schleswig in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein. It is located on the Neumünster–Flensburg and Husum–Jübek-Schleswig–Kiel lines. It is currently operated by Deutsche Bahn, which classifies it as a category 5 station.[1]

History

Formerly the station was connected to Schleswig Altstadt station by a three kilometre-long line of the Schleswig District Railway, which connected to lines to Satrup, Kappeln via Süderbrarup and to Friedrichstadt.

Operations

NOB train to Kiel

In long-distance traffic, since 9 December 2007, Intercity-Express trains on the Aarhus–Hamburg–Berlin route have stopped in Schleswig. There is also a pair of InterCity trains on the weekend that run directly from Flensburg to Berlin and Cologne.

DB Regionalbahn Schleswig Holstein (DB-SH) operates Regional-Express and Regionalbahn services between Neumünster and Flensburg every hour or two hours.

The Nord-Ostsee-Bahn (NOB, now operated by Veolia Verkehr) operates services on the Husum–Jübek–Schleswig–Rendsburg–Kiel route with modern trains every hour. Rail service on this route are substantially enhanced during the Kiel Week sailing event, so that locomotive-hauled trains are also operated.
