Biography
Hill started in the video game industry in 1996, having previously worked as a creative designer and being involved in the production of various projects. He was the head of production at the now-defunct development studio Argonaut Edgware, owned by SCi Entertainment.[1] Following the company's shutdown, Hill and Argonaut's creative director Jamie Walker founded Rocksteady Studios Ltd. in Highgate, London, England in 2004. Much of Argonaut's staff was moved to the new company. The studio's first project was the 2006 video game Urban Chaos: Riot Response, which was under the working title Roll Call, whose suspended development resumed following Rocksteady's establishment.[2]
In 2009, Rocksteady rose to fame for their critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum, the first in the Batman: Arkham game series. Hill served as the game director while award-winning Batman: The Animated Series writer Paul Dini penned the game's story. In 2011, Rocksteady released a sequel, Batman: Arkham City, which garnered wider acclaim. Hill and Dini reprised their creative duties for Arkham City while Hill and Rocksteady scriptwriter Paul Crocker assisted on the script. Dini left the Arkham series following Arkham City, leaving Hill and the Rocksteady team to write the 2012 downloadable story expansion "Harley Quinn's Revenge". The series' concluding installment, Batman: Arkham Knight was released on 23 June 2015, with Hill returning as director while he, Crocker and script consultant Martin Lancaster were in charge of writing the game's narrative. Hill was actively involved in the game's promotional content both online and at conventions alongside Rocksteady marketing director Dax Ginn and media correspondent Gaz Deaves.
