Seu Creysson

Seu Creysson (Brazilian Portuguese for Mr. Creysson) is a character in the comedy group Casseta & Planeta, who appears in their program on the Rede Globo television network. He is portrayed by comedian Claudio Manoel. Seu Creysson is a satire of an exaggerated, working-class person. He is known for his toupée; huge, taped-together glasses; missing teeth; his red shirt; a pronounced beer gut; and above all, his speech: he has a strangely overcorrected vocabulary (with forms like erradio "wrongily" instead of errado "wrong"), and he has a specific accent which has made him famous. An English approximation of a typical utterance: "Ladiesium and Gentlemenium, viewerists of Casseta et Planeta, are readingulating my wordifications on Wikipedical!"

The character's first appearance was news of him buying a fictitious business called Grupo Capivara (a contender of the show's Organizações Tabajara, who did commercials complaining about Tabajara's products) as it was entering bankruptcy- which was meant to parody the debacle of Brazilian airline Transbrasil, that after going bankrupt was bought by an entrepreneur for just one Brazilian real - that was rechristened "Grupo Capivara Seu Creysson" and launched a line of popular products.

During the elections of 2002, Seu Creysson ran for President of Brazil, and he founded his own political party, the PÇSC. In a blending of fantasy and reality, Casseta & Planeta ran real political rallies promoting the candidacy of Seu Creysson, and they had a significant following among the public.

Casseta & Planeta also published a book based on the character, Seu Creysson, Vídia i Óbria (roughly "Seu Creysson, Lifeium et Workiums"), which contained a compilation of the sketches from the program and was one of the best-selling books of the year. Veja, Brazil's most important magazine, billed the book as non-fiction (as most humor books) in its best-seller list.
