Shahida Hassan

Shahida Hasan is a contemporary Urdu poet.[1] Based in Pakistan, her poems and ghazals are admired not just all over the country but across the border as well. Shahida Hasan has written a lot of Urdu poetry, which have been published in the shape of two authorized collections, namely, Yahan Kuch Phool Rakhey hain and Ek Taara hai sarhaaney mere.[2]

Ghazals written

Hasan is known for her contributions to Urdu poetry, especially in Pakistan.[3] Being a winner of many awards, she has a vast collection of her written poetry and ghazals, most of which are contemporary in nature. Some of her works have proven to be big hits, including

Along with these very famous ghazals, she has made her special presence in Urdu poetry by publishing her two collections, Yahan Kuch phool rakhen hain and Ek taara hai sarhaaney mere. Her writings are not confined to books, and many Urdu ghazal singers have sung her written creations. Numerous composers have also used her ghazals.

She has been invited to a number of Urdu poetry sessions and events related to literature in Pakistan and various other countries. Her ghazals and poems, all with a contemporary touch, are especially admired among Urdu literature intellectuals and given praise during their many events, where she is frequently invited to narrate her written creations.[5]

Published pieces

Her first ever collection was published with the title Eik Tara Hai Sirhany Mairay on January 1, 1995, by Al-Hamd Publishers. After that, she moved toward the creation of her second collection, entitled Yahhaan Kuch Phool Rakhay Hain, which was published by Shaharzad Publications on January 1, 2002.
