Shane & Shane is a Texas-based, contemporary worship music band known for acoustic praise and worship music. The band consists of Shane Barnard (vocals, acoustic guitar) and Shane Everett (vocals). They are often joined by their drummer and manager, Joey Parish.

Shane Barnard

Barnard was born, Shane Corey Barnard,[1] on January 14, 1976, in Placerville, California, to father James David Barnard and mother Margaret Ann Barnard (née, Gardner),[2] and later grew up in Lubbock, Texas, where he attended Texas Tech University and later Texas A&M University.[3][4] It was there that he led worship at the popular Christian student gathering Breakaway, and where he met Everett.[5] Barnard is also known for his unique form of strumming the acoustic guitar and his very high vocal range.[6]

During his junior year as a student at Texas A&M University, Barnard began a recording career.[7] Prior to joining Everett, Barnard teamed up with friend Caleb Carruth to release an album. Entitled Salvation Still Remains, it was released in limited numbers. Barnard and Carruth were rumored to have recorded the album in only two days due to the fact they had to pay for studio time themselves and wanting to make the most of it. Family and friends brought them sandwiches and drinks throughout the process. Barnard and Carruth later agreed to end their partnership amicably, stating "they were just moving in different directions".

Barnard is married to fellow CCM artist Bethany Dillon.[3][8]

Shane Everett

Everett was born, Shane Eric Everett,[9] on July 30, 1974, in Dallas, Texas, to father Larry Leon Everett and mother Leigh Ann Everett (née, Milton),[10] and later moved to Rowlett, a nearby suburb. Everett also attended Texas A&M University. One night after playing with his band in a bar, Everett experienced an encounter with God, which led him to quit his band and start attending church regularly.[5] Shortly thereafter, he met Barnard, and became part of Breakaway Ministries, a weekly student-led praise and worship service at Texas A&M.

Band

The band originally began with Barnard performing solo acts, but Everett increasingly played a major role in his performances. With the release of their 2003 album, entitled Carry Away, the band became officially known as "Shane & Shane".[5]

In 2014, following a successful Kickstarter campaign,[11] Shane & Shane launched a project called "The Worship Initiative", a paid membership website with instructional videos and chord charts for popular worship songs. As part of the project, they also released 10 volumes of 10 songs each and a Christmas album. Their subsequent studio albums The Worship Initiative and Psalms II are also included in the project.[12]

Christian hip-hop artist Tedashii features Shane & Shane on his song "Finally" which is in his album Blacklight.
