Sheringham Football Club is a football club based in Sheringham, England and was established in 1897. The club plays at Weybourne Road, and their nickname is "The Shannocks".
As of the 2016–17 season, the club plays its football in the Anglian Combination Division One under the management of John Cramp. The club is affiliated to the Norfolk County FA.
Recent history
After 32 years of Premier League football being absent from Weybourne Road, the season of 2002–03 saw a new long term plan and goals set to achieve Anglian Combination Premier League level within 10 years. With a new Manager in John Kowalyk, came new ideas and players which saw them win titles in 3 successive seasons. 2002–03 winning the Division 3 title, 2003–04 winning the Division 2 title, 2004–05 winning the Division 1 title and promotion back to the Premier League after a 35-year absence.
In their first season back in the Premier League, the team finished in a very respectable 6th position. In the 2006–07 season, the club finished in 3rd place in the Premier Division, their highest finish since they won the Sterry Cup in 1969–70. The season of 2007–08 saw the club finish in 5th place. It was in this season where they reached the Norfolk Senior Cup final which was played at Carrow Road. Unfortunately the team lost 3–1 to Wroxham FC in a very close, thrilling final.
The season of 2008–09 saw the club win the coveted Sterry Cup, thus being the Premier League Champions for the first time in 39 years. In the same season, the Reserve team also claimed a title of their own, the Division 5 title, making it one of the most successful seasons in the club's history. In the 2009–10 season saw them finish 13th in a disappointing defence of there title. The 2010–11 season saw the team improve to 10th. The team went through various manager changes causing the club to become unstable and relegation contenders. The season of 2011–12 saw the club finish in 11th place after again having managers depart mid way through the season. The 2012–13 saw the club just beating relegation by 2 points on the last day of the season finishing 14th. After another change of managers and new players saw the 2013–14 season start with lots of promise and expectation. The first half of the season saw the club battling around the top of the table, only for the manager to depart and with him a few players and the team began to struggle having to field a team with mostly under 18's. The club eventually finished 13th in league.
The 2014–15 season is a new start for the club after new manager John Cramp has brought stability and a familiar face to the team having worked as the Reserve manager for the past 3 seasons. They hope under John's management, they can regain the form that saw them crowned Premier League Champions in 2008–09.
