Smile for Them is the third studio album by the American rock band Armor for Sleep.

Background and production

While on tour in fall 2005, the band performed a new song, titled "The Way Out Is Broken".[5] On January 12, 2006, the group released a demo of the song.[5] The band had been reportedly working on the song for their third album, which was planned for release later in 2006.[5] On April 10, it was announced that the band had signed to Sire Records. In the same announcement, it was revealed that the group would not release an album until 2007.[6] On December 14, it was announced that the band began recording their third album. Production duties were handled by Ben Grosse, with recording taking place at Mix Room in Burbank, California.[7]

Release

From late February to early March 2007, the band went supported Taking Back Sunday on their North American tour.[8] The album was originally planned for release in mid-2007,[7] before being released through Sire Records on October 30.

The first single, "Williamsburg", was released on September 18, 2007.[9] The band used their appearance on the Projekt Revolution tour to promote the release. In January and February 2008, the band supported Saosin on their tour.[10] "Hold the Door" impacted radio on February 12, 2008.[11]

A version of "End of the World" appeared on the soundtrack for the 2007 film Transformers, featuring additional vocal effects and keyboards.
