Somerville Auxiliary Police Department
The Somerville Auxiliary Police Department is a volunteer police force operated through the police department of Somerville, MA. The Chief is Jerry Carvalho.[1][2][3][4] The department is utilized in Law Enforcement and safety details, such as the Boston Marathon.[5]
Somerville resident Sean Collier was a member of the SAPD and held the rank of Sergeant. Collier was murdered in 2013 while serving as a Police Officer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.[6][7][8][9]
